Miguel Ignacio Dorante, MD, MBE, Plastic Surgery Resident at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, has been recognized for their contributions and achievements in the field of medicine.
Attributing his success to a good upbringing, Dr. Dorante was raised in Venezuela by parents who instilled in him a good work ethic at a young age. Despite not initially having ambitions of pursuing a career in the medical field, his driving curiosity and passion for helping others led him there. Additionally, a physics teacher at his high school, Brian T. Murray, served as a great mentor and motivator leading up to graduation. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in biomedical and medical engineering from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2014; a Master of Bioethics from Harvard Medical School in 2018; and a Doctor of Medicine from the Boston University School of Medicine in 2019.
In the midst of his education, Dr. Dorante gained experience as a research assistant within the cardiology department and the neurology department at Johns Hopkins, between 2011 and 2014. He was active as a research fellow at the Center for Reconstructive and Restorative Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston from 2017 to 2021 and, since 2019, he has excelled as a plastic surgery resident at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington. With an expertise in post-traumatic reconstruction surgery, he enjoys the innovative nature of thinking outside the box in plastic surgery. Looking toward the future, his goal is to perform plastic surgery at an academic center where he is able to teach residents and help a broader variety of people with different injuries. A member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Medical Association, and American Society for Reconstructive Transplantation, Dr. Dorante also wants to continue conducting research within the field of plastic surgery and medicine as a whole.
